Hardstaff Celebrate 150th Anniversary

The Hardstaff Group celebrated their 150th Anniversary by holding a fun day for employees and their families. The event located on site at Kingston was attended by nearly 500 visitors.

Throughout the day there was a packed line up of entertainment for all family members including a falconry display, archery, laser clay shooting, reverse steer driving, fairground stalls, bouncy castle and bucking bronco. To reflect the history of Hardstaff, Creative Country Crafts demonstrated basket weaving and a traditional horse and cart gave rides.

Joining the line-up of entertainment, The Knights of Nottingham gave a 90 minute interactive jousting performance. The knights and horses were dressed in colourful costumes and gave an excellent focal to the occasion.

The event celebrated the 150th Anniversary, which began back in 1861 when John Hardstaff founded the parent company, Hardstaff Haulage (T.Baden Hardstaff Limited) in East Leake. At this time the reed and basket industry employed the company to transport completed woven goods to the local markets in the Nottingham area. The company has now flourished into a Group providing leading edge technology and innovative services to both the global and UK road transport industry.

Managing Director, Trevor Fletcher commented “We were keen to celebrate our anniversary with an employee appreciation day, thanking everyone for their hard work.  The event proved to be a real family occasion where employees could relax and take part in a wide range of activities.”

A fun and enjoyable day was had by all and was made even better by glorious weather.
